Alfonso's exposure to the universal sport, football, began in the narrow and dusty streets of El Salvador shortly after he gave up his diapers. After almost getting runover several times by the ox-driven carts, his father chose to construct a make-shift football field in the pasture land allotted to the cattle. There his passion and appreciation for the universal sport grew, to the point that in 2003 he founded the High Park soccer league, sponsoring several teams.

While in Canada he pursued the martial arts, and presently holds a black-belt stripe in Tae Kwon Do, a system he has been practising since 1985.
