By the time he was fifteen years old, Alfonso had written several poems, dissertations and other non-fiction works of his own. In 1997 he authored his first book, "Breaking Into the Bilingual Market in Canada", which would propel him as a talented writer in the community. He has since authored two other books: "Quest for Natural Cures in Canada" and "Toronto Trigueño" (Spanish). Additionally, he has penned several poems, many short stories and non-fiction articles in diverse areas such as sports and health.

Allergies and Insomnia: Gastro-intestinal Complications
As a teenager, it never dawned on me that Mother Nature had bestowed upon me a carbon-oxygen engine that came with a 30-year warranty. Consequently, I ate, drank, played and slept irregular hours, without regard to the potential deterioration of that prized commodity we all need in this material world: my body.
Had I known what I know now, I would have been prudent enough to at least award this vehicle I call "my body" a proper preventive maintenance program. Had that been done, this article probably would never have been.

First and foremost, congratulations to our friends from Cameroon, "The Toronto Lions", and the Portuguese Soccer Club for having won the Saturday and Sunday championships respectively...!

Actually it’s a constellation. And yesterday, they got a chance to radiantly shine at the Jim Archdekin Recreation Center stadium in Brampton.

Festival de Karaoke
En un caluroso y acogedor ambiente de la comunidad hispana se presentó el sábado pasado Walter Santana, el talentoso artista quien con creciente y meteórica popularidad se está destacando en los círculos hispano-hablantes de la ciudad de Toronto.
Segundo Festival de "El Amigo"
Este pasado domingo, una vez más, el bar-karaoke-restaurante-discoteca, El Amigo celebró su festival tri-mestral para la comunidad hispano-americana de Toronto. El evento se inició con la actuación del invitado especial Victor Rojas, un talentoso vocalista recién llegado a Canada con muchos años de experiencia como cantante en su tierra natal, Costa Rica. Luego vino la sorpresiva y grata presentación de la carismática Cristina Leiba quien logró cautivar y detener el aliento de todos los varones ahí presentes con su radiante belleza e interpretación de música ranchera.
Duo de Comedia en "El Amigo"
El pasado sábado, el popular establecimiento El Amigo que viene patrocinando las noches de canto karaoke, lanzó exitosamente su noche de comedia por y para la comunidad hispana de Toronto.
Asistieron a este evento participantes de diversos estratos y estaturas: amateurs con inclinaciones artísticas que hacían su presentación “debut”, como también dotados cómicos de amplia experiencia y surtido repertorio. En esta última categoría encontramos al “Duo Nicubano” compuesto por Osvaldo Gomez y Gustavo Gutierrez, que fueron los astros sobresalientes de la noche.

I did not have the faintest clue when I saw her for the first time, that that stranger would become the first and only woman who almost, almost managed to break my heart; the first and only woman who would make the first bold attempt at ridding me of my innocence.
La Pérdida de la Inocencia (Spanish)
Era el año de 1982. Su tierra natal: Colombia, Bogota, la tierra de contrastes, conocida por la impiedad de sus barones narcos, y por el corazon de oro de las mujeres que suelen acompañarles.
Yo no tenia ni la mas remota sospecha cuando la vi por primera vez, que esa extraña se convertiria en la primera y unica mujer que casi, casi lograria romperme el corazon; la primera y unica mujer que haria el primer intento audaz de despojarme de la inocencia.
La Amarga Partida (Spanish)
Corría el mes de diciembre de 1978 en el humilde pueblo de Lourdes Colón, en el departamento de La Libertad de El Salvador. Yo tenia apenas once años. Esa noche ocurriría un doloroso acontecimiento en mi hogar que cambiaría por completo el destino de nuestra familia; este evento iba a determinar el futuro sendero de mi vida para las siguientes tres décadas.
